The Stories We Tell Ourselves

ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP:

The stories we tell ourselves greatly impact the way we navigate both our internal and external world. Stories are powerful and whether they are true or not, we believe the ones we tell ourselves. It is important to learn how to separate our stories from the facts. This workshop is dedicated to show you how to do just that.

Eliminate misunderstanding, miscommunication, and conflict from separating our stories from the facts.

WHO IS THIS FOR:

Leaders

Managers, Supervisors, Directors

A team lead

Anyone who leads a team wanting to increase their interpersonal relationships, emotional intelligence, and build lasting trust

WHAT ARE STORIES WE TELL OURSELVES?

There was an accident that happened in the middle of a 4 way intersection. The police officer came to the scene to find out what had happened and who was at fault. After interviewing the witnesses at each side of the intersection, would you believe me if I told you that the police officer got 4 completely different stories about what had happened?

Four witnesses watched the same accident, but the police officer got four completely different stories.

Like this story, there are many perspectives from which we can see things. The truths we hold as facts, are many times influenced and shaped from where we sit. And where we sit filters what we see.

How we see things in life is a combination of many factors (e.g., our cultural upbringing, the neighbourhood we were raised in, our family values, our ethnicity and race, experiences, the generational group we belong to, socioeconomic status, religious and/or political views, gender, and an array of infinite factors that shape how we see the world).

It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.”  -Aristotle
